Bárbara Rey's connection with photographer Santiago Arriazu after the 'Privé' scandal

In the house in Boadilla del Monte where the vedette was with the Emeritus King, there may have been a third person

The "relationship" between Bárbara Rey and Juan Carlos I has returned to the media spotlight. This Wednesday, the Dutch magazine "Privé" published a total of nine exclusive photographs of the vedette Bárbara Rey and Juan Carlos I.

These are previously unseen images that hadn't come to light until now. In fact, the authorship of these snapshots belongs to Ángel Cristo Jr., the actress's son. However, the vedette has stated that "her son didn't take those photographs".

The Totana native has also announced that she will take legal action against any media outlet that publishes the snapshots. She also faces the possible publication of new photographs that could be in her son's possession.

The vedette's eldest son appeared this September 27 on the set of ¡De Viernes!. There, he provided new details and information about this social and royal scandal.

He also announced that there is more previously unseen material about the actress and the Emeritus King. Both allegedly had a relationship, which was an "open secret," and which is reflected in these photographs. These are images that DJ Sofía Cristo, the actress's daughter, has stated "were a life insurance" for the vedette "since she has been threatened with death many times".

However, the publication of these photographs has raised several hypotheses. One of them concerns who actually leaked them. Some voices suggest that "the vedette could be behind all this". Another question is the possibility that there was a third person in the house in Boadilla del Monte where the meeting took place.

This scandal has brought the figure of Santiago Arriazu back into the spotlight. According to sources consulted by Elcierredigital.com, "Bárbara Rey's trusted photographer". These same sources claim that "Juan Carlos I would never have gone to the vedette's house if he had known there was a third person".

But, what is the connection between Santiago Arriazu and the Murcian actress who managed to win over the Emeritus King?

The Authorship of the Photographs of Bárbara Rey and Juan Carlos I

The photographs of Juan Carlos I and the vedette Bárbara Rey have made headlines around the world. This Wednesday, some photographs revealed what was an "open secret."

The magazine "Privé" revealed that Ángel Cristo Jr. was responsible for leaking these snapshots, as well as being their author.

These photographs date back to 1994. At that time, Bárbara Rey had moved with her children into the famous house in Boadilla del Monte.

According to sources consulted by Elcierredigital.com, "the vedette moved into this property on the recommendation of Juan Carlos I. Boadilla was closer to the Palacio de la Zarzuela."

These same sources tell our newspaper that "at that time both tried to resume that 'relationship' despite having ended it in June 1994. The secret services had already blocked contact between the actress and Juan Carlos I."

Both resumed that "relationship," as well as their meetings. Both in the house in Aravaca-Pozuelo, a townhouse rented at the time by CESID, and in the house in Boadilla del Monte.

As we reported in Elcierredigital.com, "those meetings have been documented in an arsenal of recordings and photographs obtained at various encounters." Unreleased material that could be in the hands of Ángel Cristo Jr., such as the snapshots published in "Privé".

However, the truth is that the publication of these snapshots has brought back into the spotlight a figure very close to Bárbara Rey.

The Connection Between Santiago Arriazu and Bárbara Rey

This is Santiago Arriazu who, according to sources consulted by Elcierredigital.com, "became the vedette's trusted photographer".

These same sources reveal to our newspaper that "Santiago Arriazu worked at the magazine 'Época'. He later continued working as a photographer. He was director of the agency Paramedia and System Press."

After the publication of the photographs in 'Privé', the figure of Santiago Arriazu has returned to the spotlight. So has his son, journalist Carlos Arriazu. It should be recalled that the journalist was already involved in a legal process with someone close to the Royal House.

According to reports, Carlos Arriazu was found guilty of "wiretapping" in New York the phone of young Gigi Howard, a friend of the then Prince of Asturias Felipe de Borbón. The jury of the Manhattan Criminal Court convicted the journalist of illegal wiretapping and illegal possession of material.

Arriazu was sentenced to six months in prison but was released two and a half months after entering prison. After years away from the media spotlight, the journalist has returned to the spotlight to provide new information about the unreleased material that could be in the possession of Ángel Cristo Jr.

If we go back in time, at that time Bárbara Rey's son was 13 years old. Although it was Ángel Cristo Jr. himself who claimed to have taken these photographs, the vedette has denied that the former contestant of Supervivientes was the one who took the snapshots.

But, was there a third person in the house in Boadilla? Was this third person the one who took the nine photographs published in 'Privé'?

Arriazu was not only the vedette's trusted photographer. He was also someone who experienced the "relationship" between the vedette and Juan Carlos I up close.

"Santiago Arriazu presented himself as the mediator between Bárbara and CNI so they would pay for the artist's silence", confessed Danielle, Santiago Arriazu's ex-wife.

It should be recalled that the vedette had an entire arsenal of recordings and photographs obtained at various encounters.

"The Photographs Are Not of Good Quality"

Journalist Carlos Arriazu has revealed that "there would still be more material about Bárbara Rey and Juan Carlos I that hasn't come to light."

According to 'Privé', "the nine photographs published in their pages would only be 5% of the material that Ángel Cristo's eldest son would have."

Nine photographs that have made headlines around the world. Whose authorship has been questioned after Bárbara Rey stated that "it wasn't her son who took those photographs."

At that time, Ángel Cristo Jr. was only 13 years old. "There are younger children and also young people who can learn photography skills and carry out highly prestigious work," say sources consulted by Elcierredigital.com.

"But these photographs are not of good quality considering that, at that time, photographers had a lot of experience taking candid photos."

"In the case of the photographs of Bárbara Rey and Juan Carlos I, although there is a lot of light, they are very enlarged and very grainy," these same sources tell Elcierredigital.com.

Unreleased Material

As we published in Elcierredigital.com, "these photographs were already in the possession of former banker Mario Conde. When the famous meeting with the vedette took place to address the 'relationship' she had with Juan Carlos I. They were also in the possession of Juan Alberto Perote, then head of CESID's operational unit."

According to sources consulted by our newspaper, "these photographs were used by Bárbara Rey to blackmail the Crown." According to the same sources, "it wouldn't be the only material the vedette would have."

Discretion has never been one of Juan Carlos de Borbón's best attributes. With his alleged lover, he spoke openly about all his problems, including intimate aspects about Queen Sofía and the military coup of February 23.

According to sources familiar with this media "scandal," "this is sensitive material for the Crown and the State". In conversation with elcierredigital.com they state that "the vedette's son could face action from the secret services following this revelation."

In the book by Juan Fernández Miranda and Javier Chicote published by Roca Editorial, El jefe de los espías, the role of the secret services in this story is recounted.

The volume brings to light the secret archive of Emilio Alonso Manglano, the king's advisor and director of CESID for 14 years.

He was the head of espionage, the most informed man in Spain. He knew everything. He documented everything.

The monthly payments that Bárbara Rey received from the Ministry of the Interior's reserved funds ranged between one million and two million pesetas. This was confessed by Manglano. Later, they were deposited in a bank account in Luxembourg. In 2017, Ok Diario published that CNI agents opened a bank account for her at Kredietbank Luxembourg. To which they transferred an initial amount of 26.3 million pesetas (160,000 euros).

However, when PP led by José María Aznar came to La Moncloa, it was decided to end the payments to the artist. The problems began. In 1993, she decided to seek the advice of an espionage expert. There were also rumors that she made copies of the material she collected from each meeting.

"In 1994, the secret service and Bárbara Rey, in the presence of Manuel Prado Colón y Carvajal, signed an agreement when these photographs were taken. An agreement was reached and Bárbara Rey was paid an amount close to 30 million pesetas, as well as a position in a cooking show on Catalan regional television," revealed the director of Elcierredigital.comJuan Luis Galiacho.

"This agreement hasn't been breached by the vedette since it's her son who has claimed to have taken the photographs despite the actress's denial," says journalist Juan Luis Galiacho. Three decades later, these photographs have once again sparked controversy and are part of a scandal of which, according to reports, "only 5% has been seen."
