Juan Luis López-Galiacho was born in Albacete in 1961. He holds a cum laude PhD in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. He is also a graduate in Economics and Business from the National University of Distance Education (UNED), for which he received the silver medal from the University.
Since 2002, he has been a professor (and since 2008, a contracted doctor professor) at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid. Prior to that, he taught at the Associated Center of UNED in Albacete in its Economics Faculty Delegation. He has also been an honorary professor at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Throughout his career as a journalist since 1984, he was one of the founding members of the complaints portal e-defensor.com. He has worked in the business supplement of the newspaper El País, La Gaceta de los Negocios, and El Mundo. He has also contributed to the magazines Tribuna, Panorama, Época, La Clave, and Interviú.
In the radio field, he has developed his career at stations such as Antena 3 Radio, COPE, Radio España, Radio Inter, Onda Cero, and Punto Radio. Currently, he is a collaborator on various television programs, such as 'Juntos,' 'Fiesta,' and has also participated in Antena 3's 'Espejo Público' program.
In September 2018, he founded the digital newspaper 'elcierredigital.com,' where he has served as its director since then. It is a newspaper focused on investigative news across all sectors, as well as current events. Throughout the newspaper’s existence, he has produced investigative reports on figures such as the former president of Atlético de Madrid, Jesús Gil y Gil, the Royal Family, and the Ruiz-Mateos family. This passion for investigative journalism led him to create the podcast 'El Hilo de la Cometa,' where he discusses topics and figures in current political, social, and economic affairs.
One of his great passions is writing, and in fact, throughout his career, he has written more than a dozen books, such as 'Encarna en carne viva,' alongside radio producer Pedro Pérez; 'Isabel and Miguel: 50 years of Spain's history'; 'The Heirs of Great Power'; 'Women of Great Power'; 'Marriages S.A.'; 'Filesa: the dark money plots in politics'; 'Jesús Gil y Gil: the great comedian'; and 'Gil y Gil, the farce continues.'
But writing is not his only great hobby; he is also passionate about the wine tradition, football (with Albacete Balompié SAD being his favorite team since childhood), as well as traveling to places like America or attending bullfights or a good play, and he cannot miss the Albacete Fair during his leisure time.
