Why Move partners with Bankinter: Wear on Repsol's app and new discounts
The former Cepsa is experiencing the strength of its competitor, which surpasses 9 million users with this payment method
Not even at Repsol did they suspect the success that their payment application and loyalty platform Waylet was going to have. This tool will turn 8 years old in May after surpassing 9 million unique users.
In the plans of the oil company chaired by Josu Jon Imaz, it is contemplated to exceed 10 million. To achieve this, they maintain discounts, up to 20 cents per liter. They try to maintain some advantages through agreements with third parties. In this second area, Waylet has lost momentum.
Concern at Moeve
Moeve has been concerned for years with the success of its adversary. The company formerly known as Cepsa wants to articulate 'Waylet.' And it does so with the support of Bankinter, which has launched the Mastercard Moeve gow Card.
This application has been launched with a wide range of discounts and benefits for its holders. Alfonso Saez, general director of Bankinter Consumer Finance, says that having Moeve "is a guarantee of growth in customers in a very dynamic consumption area." At the same time, it allows us to strengthen a growing business avenue through alliances with leading companies. Our goal is to be present in key consumption sectors where we become a reference in payment methods."
Pierre-Yves Sachet, director of Mobility at Moeve, points out that they share with Bankinter "the vision of focusing on the customer. We are aware of the importance of savings for our customers in basic products such as fuel and in their electric recharges, so we will continue to focus our efforts on providing them with the most competitive offer possible with the best customer experience in the premium segment."
The joint card allows saving 15 cents per liter of fuel in Moeve gow balance. The oil company says that it is "the best offer on the market," clearly referring against Repsol. Their adversary indeed reaches 20 cents if electricity and gas are contracted with the company.

Moeve offers a discount of seven cents per kilowatt/hour on electric recharges. And another of eight cents for every euro paid in-store or in automatic car washes at service stations. Additionally, the customer can obtain 0.3% of each purchase made at other establishments.
Waylet will have to demonstrate its strength. This app, which came to replace 2 others that had 40,000 users, has become key for Repsol. The company led by Josu Jon Imaz is keeping an eye on the adversary and also on the political situation.
The United States revoked the permits and exemptions granted to several companies to export crude oil from Venezuela, which has been sanctioned by the United States since 2019. Among those affected is the Spanish Repsol, which exports about 67 million barrels daily.
Moeve, new image of Cepsa
Cepsa wants to leave behind economic losses and a controversial image due to its dependence on oil. The energy company is approaching its first century of life with a name change. The company changed its name to Moeve in November, changing the corporate color from red to blue.
This change, they assure, also responds to their goal of accelerating their decarbonization and that of their customers. The company is developing the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley, the largest project presented to date in Europe. It is also working on what will be the largest 2G biofuels complex in southern Europe, located in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva).
Maarten Wetselaar, CEO of Moeve, expressed his excitement about the new stage. "We were born with the initials of Compañía Española de Petróleos SA in 1929 to build Spain's first refinery and lead the first energy transition. And for almost a century, Cepsa has played a decisive role as a driver of progress and economic growth in Spain. Today, however, the world needs other types of more sustainable energy solutions," he added.

The announcement was accompanied by the progressive implementation of the new brand in all its service stations. The intention is to change 600 stations a year, until reaching the more than 1,800 that the company has in Spain and Portugal.
Emirati capital and Dutch director
2024 was the third full year of the Dutch Maarten Wetselaar at the helm of the historic Spanish-origin energy company Cepsa. The executive left his position at the British giant Royal Dutch Shell after 26 years of work to replace Philippe Boisseau.
Cepsa has changed course by decision of its main shareholder, Mubadala Investment Company. The Abu Dhabi Government holding entered the shareholding in 1988. It took full control of it in 2011.
The president of Moeve has the support of its main shareholder, Musabbeh Al Kaabi. Former Vice President Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría has been sitting on its board for months.
