United Kingdom reveals something Prince William and his wife have been hiding for a long time
The firm decision made by Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, has been revealed
A British media outlet has uncovered a revealing story that both Prince William and his wife have tried to keep secret. This information is directly related to the future of the institution.
Several days ago, the latest decision made by William and Kate was confirmed. As has been confirmed, both they and their children plan to leave Adelaide Cottage, their home since 2022, to move to Forest Lodge.

Now, while Prince William and his wife are in the midst of their move within the Windsor estate, several questions have arisen about it. Among them is what will happen to Buckingham Palace when Charles III's son is proclaimed king.
According to various sources, the heir doesn't plan to move into that palace once he takes the throne. In fact, according to reports, he prefers to keep living in his home rather than move to one of the most important royal residences.
Prince William's firm stance, and his break with this family tradition, has called into question what Buckingham Palace's role will be in the future. This question has been answered by Grant Harrold, the former butler of the monarch at Highgrove.
Grant Harrold reveals Prince William and his wife's intention
Grant Harrold believes that Prince William's decision clearly reflects the path set by his father. The current sovereign also didn't choose to move to Buckingham when he ascended the throne.
The former butler has also explained that, during his years working in the Royal Household, there was already discussion about what would happen when Charles III inherited the throne. According to him, even then it was clear that the king preferred other residences over Buckingham Palace.

"I'm not even surprised that Charles never moved to Buckingham Palace... Because, even when I was there, it was said that he wouldn't move because he preferred Birkhall, Highgrove, or Clarence House. Buckingham Palace is just the office," he said in statements to Mirror.
Although many are already wondering what will happen with those facilities, Harrold believes the next monarch will usher in a new era. Prince William has never shown interest in living permanently in such a large palace:
"As for William, he's used to smaller houses like Highgrove because he didn't grow up in large palaces or castles.[...]I think there will be a transition in which Windsor will become the center of the British monarchy, since Forest Lodge is located on the Windsor estate."

Regarding the future of Buckingham Palace, Harrold has pointed out that "it could be open all year simply as a tourist attraction." "At the same time, it could function as the royal office, because it's a landmark of the royal institution," he added.
The former butler also believes that Prince William's preference for Forest Lodge reflects his commitment to social causes. Especially with his work in support of homeless people in the United Kingdom:
"He has long championed the causes of homeless people, and it's a bit difficult to support homeless people when you live in a castle. So I think he's aware of that. Living in Forest Lodge will be much cheaper than living in Buckingham Palace, and he knows it."
