Firm decision by the royal family regarding Infanta Sofía: they can't hide it anymore
The Royal Family has made a major decision regarding Infanta Sofía that no one expected during the summer season
Many followers of the Royal Family are wondering about the whereabouts of Infanta Sofía since she graduated from UWC Atlantic College in Wales last May 24. She did so accompanied by her parents, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, in a private but emotional ceremony. The Royal Household then released several snapshots in which the young woman appeared happy and smiling; however, since that moment, she hasn't appeared publicly again.
In fact, she hasn't been seen in Spain since last January 6, when she was spotted entering the house of Jesús Ortiz, her maternal grandfather. That was during the traditional Epiphany snack, and since then, there has been complete silence. No images, no statements, no official confirmations.

Journalist Pilar Eyre, a renowned expert on Royal Household matters, has been clear and has strongly criticized this silence surrounding Sofía. "The diminished Royal Family can't afford to do without one of their two most important assets," she said emphatically.
Nobody Expected What the Royal Family Has Decided About Sofía's Future
Indeed, as Eyre has rightly recalled, Sofía is an infanta, but also a key figure in the continuity of the crown. If Leonor didn't ascend to the throne, she would be the Queen of Spain.
For weeks, there has been speculation about her academic future, and some rumors pointed to a possible continuation of her studies abroad. It would be a way to keep her away from the media spotlight, but in the end, that hasn't been the case. Her parents have made a firm decision: Sofía will continue her studies in Spain.

According to Pilar Eyre, the Infanta will study Law, possibly with Economics, at the Autonomous University of Madrid. This is the same university where King Felipe VI studied. The choice hasn't been random, since Sofía's education must be up to the level of her institutional responsibilities.
Sofía Won't Appear with the Royal Family Officially Until Next Month
For now, it has been decided that the young woman won't have any more public appearances until the Princess of Girona Awards, next July 23, which will be held in Barcelona. There, as tradition dictates, she will be supporting her sister, Princess Leonor.

Afterward, the Royal Family will head to Palma de Mallorca for their public vacation. In August, we will see another informal outing.
After the summer, Infanta Sofía will begin a new academic stage. The decision has already been made: The Infanta will stay in Spain because the Royal Family can't do without her.
