Police explode: they demand 'Measures' against socialist Leire Díez for her actions

SUP Condemns the Alleged Collection of 'Dirty Laundry' Against the National Police by PSOE's 'Plumber'

Unified Police Union (SUP), the majority union of the National Police, expresses its "absolute condemnation" regarding the reports pointing to Leire Díez. The PSOE activist is said to have led for years a covert operation of alleged 'dirty laundry' collection against the National Police, in addition to "keeping information outside Spain with the aim of discrediting the institution."

According to a statement from SUP, "if this person or those around her had evidence of crimes committed by any public official, their legal and ethical obligation was to immediately inform the justice system. Keeping that information for years for partisan or blackmail purposes is unacceptable, immoral, and could constitute a crime. The National Police are here to protect the law, not to be used as a political weapon or be the target of dirty war."

For all these reasons, Unified Police Union presents five points expressing their rejection of what has happened.

SUP Police Officers' Demands

First, they condemn "any maneuver to discredit the State Security Forces and Corps. Attacking the National Police is an attack against everyone's security and against the rule of law."

They also demand "a thorough and transparent judicial investigation to clarify whether Leire Díez's actions may constitute a crime." They also support "possible legal actions in this regard, as members of the Civil Guard have already announced."

SUP confirms their "firm support and solidarity with all colleagues who may have been singled out, defamed, or unjustly used as pieces in an unworthy political strategy."

Likewise, the union calls for "a clear and forceful response from the Government, and especially from the Minister of the Interior. Institutional lukewarmness is not acceptable when what is at stake is the honor and integrity of those who protect all citizens every day."

Finally, SUP representatives reiterate that they will defend "the professionalism, tireless work, and dedication of the women and men who make up the National Police, against any attempt at manipulation, discredit, or blackmail."

In their statement, the police union concludes: "Our society deserves a strong, independent, and respected National Police. We are not going to allow our officers to be essentialized or targeted for partisan purposes. We trust the justice system and demand that the dignity of the institution be firmly protected."
