How Jorge Benguría lives: the silent pillar after the deaths of Charles III and Caritina Goyanes

The banking entrepreneur married Carla Goyanes in 2011, and in the summer of 2024, he lost his wife and his father-in-law within a month

In the universe of the Goyanes-Lapique family, a dynasty that has been synonymous with glamour, culture, and a constant presence in Spanish social life, there is a name that, far from the spotlight, has earned an essential place for his dedication, serenity, and firmness.

This is Jorge Benguría (43), husband of Carla Goyanes (42). His presence has gained a silent but decisive weight in recent years, especially after the harsh blows the family has suffered.

A low profile in a media-driven family

Married to one of the daughters of one of the best-known dynasties in the world of entertainment and Spanish high society, Jorge Benguría has always kept a discreet profile. Uninterested in the spotlight, he has chosen to stay on the sidelines of the media commotion surrounding his environment, playing an essential role in his family's private life.

His union with Carla Goyanes was celebrated in the summer of 2011 in an elegant ceremony at finca Cortesín. This spectacular resort is located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, between Sotogrande and Marbella. It was the beginning of a firm and discreet commitment that has taken on special meaning in recent years.

A solid financial career

With more than 15 years of experience in the financial sector, Jorge Benguría began his career at Deutsche Bank España as Portfolio Manager of Fund of Funds and SICAVs. In 2011, he moved to Miami to take on the role of Vice President at Santander Private Banking International, where he worked as a private banker serving clients from Argentina, Colombia, and Peru.

In 2016, he joined Capital Strategies Partners as Senior Relationship Manager, focused on the Latin American and U.S. markets, and in June 2019, he was named a partner of the firm. Jorge holds a degree in Economics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and also has the EFA Certification from Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles (IEB).

With a degree in economics and a specialization in private banking and wealth management, Jorge Benguría has developed his professional career between Madrid, Miami, and London.

For several years, he lived in Miami for work reasons, a city where his first two children, Carlos (2012) and Santiago (2014), were born. Later, they returned permanently to Spain, where in 2019, their third child, Beltrán, was born.

His work has led him to manage large client portfolios and advise on complex investments, although he has always kept a balance with his private life.

Constant presence

Discreet, elegant, and always in the background, Jorge Benguría has become one of the greatest supports for the Goyanes family in one of their most difficult moments. The businessman has stood by his wife and his loved ones after the devastating blow.

The loss of Carlos Goyanes, patriarch of the clan, on August 7, 2024, was followed just a few weeks later by that of his daughter Caritina Goyanes, who passed away on August 26 of the same year.
