The photo for which Prince Harry broke with his father Charles III: we have it
The true reason that distanced the Duke of Sussex from his father and the rest of the royal family comes to light
The relationship between Prince Harry and his father, Charles III, has been complicated and tense for several years. The differences and family conflicts have become increasingly visible, affecting both their personal bond and public perception. This situation has been a key factor in the decisions Harry has made regarding his role within the monarchy.
In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they were stepping down as active members of the British Royal Family. This decision shocked the world and sparked an intense debate about the future of the monarchy. Since then, the couple has settled in the United States and has spoken on several occasions about the reasons that led them to take that step.

The photo that changed everything
In his book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, biographer Andrew Morton points out that a photo was key to the decision of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The controversial image showed Prince George alongside Queen Elizabeth II, Charles III, and Prince William in the Throne Room of Buckingham Palace. This portrait confirmed for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry that the future of the monarchy was "secured, with or without them."
Sensation of conspiracy and exclusion
Morton explains that the couple believed the royal institution was conspiring against them. "The royal couple suspected that the entire institution was conspiring against them. In their eyes, the evidence was all around them."

"The tacit code was simple: the future of the monarchy was secured, with or without Meghan and Harry," the author asserted. This perception fueled their decision to seek a life outside the royal system.
The distancing did not arise overnight. According to Morton, "Harry was chatting with Oprah Winfrey in November 2018, six months after[Meghan and Harry]got married." Since then, the couple was contemplating "a different route" to life within the monarchy.

The official resignation
On January 8, 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry issued a statement announcing their intention to step down from their roles.
"After months of reflection and internal discussions,[...]we intend to step back from our role as senior members of the Royal Family," it began. And it continued: "we will work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen." This announcement marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

Since that moment, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have sought to build a life away from the pressures of the Crown. They have faced criticism and challenges, but they have also developed new personal and humanitarian projects. Their story continues to be closely followed by the global public opinion.
The legacy and continuity
The photo of Prince George symbolizes the continuity and stability of the British monarchy. Meanwhile, Meghan and Harry follow a different path, more autonomous and with their own model of leadership. Both sides keep global influences but with very different perspectives.
