It's official: King Felipe stands firm and makes the decision with his daughter Leonor

After his ascension to the throne, King Felipe made a firm decision regarding his daughter Leonor that, to this day, remains in effect

King Felipe has once again become the center of attention after the unexpected decision he made regarding his daughter, Princess Leonor, came to light. As has been confirmed, despite her coming of age and her institutional presence, neither she nor her sister receive an official salary from Casa Real.

Recently, this institution has published its annual accounts for 2024. This move responds to the commitment to transparency that King Felipe VI set in motion after his ascension to the throne.

According to this official document, the budget allocated to the Spanish Crown is kept at €8.43 million. This figure has remained frozen since 2021.

As expected, this financial report has caused great interest in society, especially due to the unexpected situation of his daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía.

One of the most notable points in this report is that neither Princess Leonor nor Infanta Sofía receive any salary. All this despite having already come of age and participating in public events.

This way, out of the nearly €8.5 million budgeted, King Felipe received a total of €277,361 in 2024. Meanwhile, Queen Letizia received €152,539 and Queen Sofía, €124,814.

However, as can be seen, no other family member, nor the service staff, appear in the annual accounts for last year.

Although Leonor has carried out official events on her own and Infanta Sofía has accompanied the family at numerous engagements, Casa del Rey has explained that they will not receive an allowance. At least not until they dedicate 100% of their time to institutional duties.

Currently, Princess Leonor and her sister are in a training stage, a condition that marks a clear difference from the situation of their parents and maternal grandmother.

Meanwhile, the future queen of Spain continues with her military training. In fact, on July 3, she rejoined the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano to complete her practice cruise. Then, she will resume her studies at the Air and Space Academy in Murcia.

Meanwhile, Infanta Sofía has completed the International Baccalaureate at UWC Atlantic College in Wales. She is now enjoying a vacation period before deciding her academic future. However, for now, the institution has not yet reported on her next steps.

For the first time since these accounts have been published, the Crown has recorded a deficit of €99,591. This is mainly due to investments in technology and cybersecurity. To cover these expenses, Casa Real used more than €950,000 from its own funds.
