Controversy in the United Kingdom: Kate Middleton's decision that nobody understands

The Princess of Wales leaves everyone astonished with her audacity

Members of the British monarchy have expressed their commitment to sustainability and environmental care on multiple occasions. Through various projects and campaigns, they have sought to promote ecological practices, from biodiversity conservation to combating climate change. These efforts reflect the crown's intention to be a role model, highlighting the responsibility they have as public figures to drive a more sustainable future.

However, Kate Middleton has once again captured attention during her recent official trip to Scotland. Besides her impeccable presence, the chosen mode of transportation has sparked a debate about sustainability and expense. The princess traveled on a private jet valued at over 23 million euros, something that has not been well received by the public.

A top-level transfer with environmental criticism

Last Thursday, May 22, Kate was seen disembarking from an Embraer Legacy 600, a high-end and highly sophisticated executive jet. This plane, managed by the British company Luxaviation, has a capacity for 13 passengers and is equipped with a conference room, rest area, Wi-Fi, kitchen, and full bathroom. Renting a jet of these characteristics can cost between 5,700 and 11,000 euros per hour, making the trip from London to Glasgow easily exceed 25,000 euros.

The welcome in Glasgow and the naval ceremony

In Glasgow, Prince William awaited her, who did not hesitate to greet her with a gesture of complicity that caught the media's attention. They both headed to the BAE Systems shipyard in Scotstoun for the christening of HMS Glasgow, a modern anti-submarine frigate of the Royal Navy. Kate, the official sponsor since 2021, blessed the ship: "I have the pleasure of naming this ship HMS Glasgow, may God bless her and all who sail in her."

Tradition and style in the solemn act

The princess broke a bottle of Scotch whisky against the hull, following the ancient naval custom to wish luck to the ship and its crew. For the occasion, Kate chose an elegant navy blue coat with white details by Suzannah London, paired with a Philip Treacy hat she had previously worn. She completed the look with beige pumps, sapphire earrings, and the iconic engagement ring that belonged to Diana of Wales, a nod to Lady Di and her legacy.

The dilemma of royal sustainability

Although Kate recycles dresses and promotes sustainability, the use of private jets clashes with ecological speeches. The environmental impact of these flights is significant, leading to questions about the consistency between her actions and messages. This visit reflects the tension the monarchy faces in balancing its modern image with the current demands for environmental responsibility.
