Buckingham Palace keeps silent after what has just been revealed about Meghan Markle

The Palace, silent upon learning what the Duchess of Sussex did, which involved the intervention of the late Queen Elizabeth II

This Monday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated seven years of marriage. Although rumors about possible crises in the couple have occasionally been heard, both have managed to quell those doubts with public displays of affection and messages of love. However, Katie Nicholl, a writer expert in royalty, has revealed an incident that occurred just before their wedding that led Queen Elizabeth II to intervene directly.

Katie Nicholl, author of The New Royals, claims that Meghan Markle was involved in tense moments before her wedding. According to Nicholl, the duchess had a tense exchange with the catering team while tasting the menu at Windsor Castle days before the ceremony.

The incident with the menu

During the menu tasting, Meghan Markle was demanding with one of the waiters. The future duchess commented that she noticed an egg flavor in one of the dishes, something that was unacceptable to her, as the menu was supposed to be vegan and macrobiotic.

The altercation, according to Nicholl, turned into an awkward moment, with Meghan showing her displeasure evidently. This incident did not go unnoticed and reached Queen Elizabeth II, known for her close relationship with the staff, which deeply upset her.

The queen's intervention

Faced with the situation, the monarch decided to take action and address Meghan Markle. According to the biographer, Elizabeth II clearly told her: “Meghan, in this family we don't speak to people like that.” This episode was not isolated: during her residence at Frogmore Cottage, between 2019 and March 2020, Meghan also had conflicts with the staff.

Royal historian Hugo Vickers stated that the Duchess of Sussex was rude to a gardener, which led the maintenance manager to report to the queen. Elizabeth II reprimanded Meghan for her behavior.

Tensions in the Palace

Accusations of mistreatment of staff are not new for Meghan Markle. Several former Palace employees have commented that the duchess created a tense and stressful environment.

In 2018, her communications secretary, Jason Knauf, sent a formal complaint alerting about the “completely unacceptable” treatment Meghan gave to her team.

Knauf explained that Meghan Markle had bullied two personal assistants, who were eventually ousted from the royal household, and that she seemed to always have someone “in the crosshairs.”

Consequences for the staff

The Times reported that tensions in the Palace led on several occasions to staff members crying from the pressure received. Two employees claimed to have been directly bullied by Meghan and a third claimed to have been “humiliated.” So far, the duchess's representatives have not commented on these allegations.

It seems that Meghan Markle did not comply with the established Palace protocol. This was likely one of the causes of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's estrangement from the British Royal House.
