Walmart confirms Sam's Club will no longer be the same: A historic change has arrived

Sam's Club implements something innovative that places it at the forefront of the market in the United States

Since May 1, Sam's Club has implemented a change that promises to transform the way their customers shop and exit all their stores in the United States. This innovation aims to solve one of the most recurring problems: long lines to verify tickets before leaving the branch. The American chain had announced this improvement since January and finally activated it with the intention of offering a faster and more efficient service for all its members.

This change uses advanced technology, which represents an important step toward modernizing the entire shopping experience. From now on, customers will no longer have to wait in lines for an employee to check their tickets. The store has replaced that process with systems based on artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision.

A New Era Without Lines, Led by Sam's Club

Previously, a worker manually verified the prices of the products at the time of exit. Now, specialized cameras and sensors perform that task automatically, analyzing the items in the cart in real time.

This technology had already been tested in more than 120 clubs since it was presented in January during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Sam's Club began the modernization in 20% of its stores during the first quarter of this year, with plans to extend it even further.

The goal is clear: reduce the time customers take to exit. Currently, Sam's Club members spend up to 23% more time on this process than in other retail stores, a difference the chain seeks to eliminate with this initiative.

Benefits for Members and Future Plans

Users have shown a good reception toward this innovation, especially because the wait at the exit was a constant complaint. The use of AI promises to streamline the entire process and make the experience more comfortable. Sam's Club plans to implement this technology in up to 600 branches during 2025, seeking to offer "a truly differentiated and pleasant experience to our members."

This measure positions Sam's Club as a company that bets on technology to improve service in the United States and remain highly competitive in the retail market. This technological advancement reflects the chain's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. Without a doubt, it will mark a turning point in the shopping experience within the sector.
