Urgent notice from the US SSA: This is why payments will be delayed

The United States Social Security Administration (SSA) has issued an urgent notice. Payments and some routine procedures will be delayed in the coming weeks. This revelation has caused concern among millions of beneficiaries.

As a result, millions of public employees—especially former workers in the education sector, police officers, or firefighters—are receiving retroactive adjustments and increases in their benefits.

To meet this requirement, the SSA is allocating almost all its available resources to these urgent cases. This includes extra shifts and weekend work, with the goal of completing the process before July 1. According to a spokesperson, more than 2.3 million retroactive payments have already been expedited, with a value exceeding $15.1 billion (15.100 millones de dólares), through automated processes.

The government has justified this situation by saying that it is necessary to speed up the implementation of the Social Security Fairness Act. They have also stated that there should not be a significant impact on other beneficiaries.

According to the White House, the internal reorganization is being managed "without letting anything important fall through the cracks." However, the staff describe a different reality: by prioritizing the 900,000 manual cases, other tasks "fall by the wayside."
