Taco Bell discovers its rival closes the restaurant: It will not reopen
The king of Mexican food in the United States sees his path cleared by the withdrawal of his main competitor
Fernando's Mexican Cuisine, known for offering a sophisticated version of Tex-Mex cuisine, announced the permanent closure of its two locations in Texas. The chain stood out for its dishes that incorporated influences from Mexico City, using high-quality ingredients and a more refined approach than many other Tex-Mex restaurants. The news, which has left many customers surprised, marks the end of two decades of history in Texan gastronomy.
The restaurant's managing partner, Anne Cowden, shared the sad news through a statement on Instagram, where she confirmed that the locations in Dallas and Richardson will close on May 18. This date will mark the end of a beloved chapter for local diners who have made Fernando's a favorite place for years.

The reason behind the closure
According to Cowden, the closure is mainly due to the inability to reach an agreement with the Dallas property owners after five months of negotiations. Additionally, the lease for the Richardson location was also ending, making this the right occasion to close both locations. The news that Fernando's Mexican Cuisine will permanently close its doors has been received with sadness by employees and customers.
In her statement, Cowden expressed deep gratitude toward the customers who made Fernando's a special place. "We have watched children grow up and become adults, bringing their own families to create new memories," she noted. "Our restaurants became a generational favorite, and that is a legacy we will treasure forever."
A farewell that touches the hearts of customers
The closure of Fernando's Mexican Cuisine has caused a strong response among customers who feel deeply saddened by the news. On social media, many have shared their affection: "Fernando's was one of the few authentic and genuinely good Mexican restaurants in the area," commented a user in response to the announcement. Others also expressed their gratitude for the experience they had over the years, praising the food and the restaurant's welcoming atmosphere.
Despite the closure, Fernando's Mexican Cuisine will continue offering its favorite dishes until next May 18, inviting its customers to enjoy one last dinner. "Join us in celebrating the memories we have created together," Cowden said. Thus, she made an emotional call to her followers to bid farewell to the restaurant before its permanent closure.
