T-Mobile has a plan for the United States, and its customers will really like it.
The American telecommunications giant is preparing something shocking for Americans
T-Mobile continues to show its interest in expansion in the fiber optic sector. The operator has indicated its intention to keep making mergers and acquisitions in this area, with the goal of consolidating its broadband offering in the United States. After the recent purchase of Lumos in early April, T-Mobile is ready to launch its T-Fiber service in the coming months.
Michael Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile, confirmed that T-Fiber will be officially launched at the end of this quarter, after two years in the pilot phase. Additionally, the company expects that its foray into the fiber market will improve its position against other major operators like AT&T and Verizon. T-Mobile has already been recognized for its growth in 5G broadband, and now it also aims to grow in the fiber optic sector.

expansion plans for T-Mobile's future
T-Mobile has not only taken steps in acquiring companies like Lumos, but it also has its sights set on other acquisition opportunities. "We are a growing company, we have shown a great interest in fiber optics, a category that keeps growing," highlighted Michael Sievert during the latest earnings presentation. Additionally, T-Mobile is expected to bring its fiber network to between 12 and 15 million more homes by 2030, consolidating itself as a leader in the United States.
This type of movement responds to the need to adapt to the growing demands of the telecommunications market. With the increasing interest in high-speed internet services, T-Mobile is focused on diversifying its offering and continuing to expand its presence.
competition in the fiber optic sector
The country's main operators, like AT&T and Verizon, are also investing heavily in fiber. AT&T, for example, is negotiating the purchase of Lumen Technologies' fiber optic operations for 5.5 billion euros. The company also plans to reach 50 million fiber connection points by 2029, surpassing the current 29.5 million.

Meanwhile, Verizon has confirmed that it expects to close its acquisition of Frontier Communications for 20 billion euros in early 2026. These acquisitions and expansions in fiber infrastructure are clear signs that the market is undergoing a strong transformation. T-Mobile seeks to position itself as one of the main players in this new scenario.
mixed first quarter for operators
The first quarter of 2025 was a mixed period for the three major telecommunications operators in the United States. T-Mobile recorded a 5% increase in service revenues, reaching 16.9 billion euros. Meanwhile, AT&T added 324,000 new phone customers, while Verizon suffered a net loss of 289,000 customers.
Despite the challenges in the market, all companies have indicated that current tariff conditions could affect the results of the next quarter. This fact adds uncertainty in an increasingly competitive environment.
