Urgent statement from DOGE: Thousands of Americans are worried after SSA confirmed it

The latest news about DOGE worries millions of Americans: They will have access to all this data, states the SSA

Alert in the US after the Supreme Court issued a ruling that allows DOGE to access Social Security data without restrictions. The decision has sparked a wave of fears over the exposure of sensitive personal information. It has led to harsh reactions from the Social Security Administration (SSA), experts, and the Government itself.

The ruling, issued on June 6, overturns a previous order that halted DOGE's access to SSA information. The Supreme Court, with a conservative majority, allowed DOGE, created from a decree by former President Trump and initially developed with the help of Elon Musk, to obtain personal data of millions of citizens.

Important Notice About DOGE: Millions of Data Records Are at Stake, SSA Is Concerned

The data DOGE will be able to review include Social Security number, full name, dates and place of birth, marital and employment status, bank accounts, health conditions, and immigration status. It can even access information through agreements between federal agencies about assets, income, living conditions, and medical history.

SSA warns that its system is outdated, stating that unrestricted access by non-specialized personnel can cause serious errors. They fear that misinterpretation or careless handling could expose critical data, from a person's birth to their death. The risk of leaks or manipulation is real.

Kathleen Romig, an Expert and Concerned Voice

Kathleen Romig, former SSA employee and current researcher at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, has strongly criticized the ruling. She has said that the data cover "from cradle to grave" for every individual in the United States.

According to Romig, SSA already has strong mechanisms to detect fraud. The changes introduced by DOGE resulted in setbacks that damaged the agency's operations. A clear example was a system for reviewing claims by phone that caused delays, chaos, and barely detected fraudulent cases.

Government Reaction and Next Steps

In response to criticism, the Government has argued that DOGE needs this access to detect fraud and reduce waste. In their view, full access is a necessary tool to improve State efficiency.

The press secretary for the Executive explained that DOGE is not an official entity, but rather an advisory group. Even so, they work under the direct supervision of the Government. The case has been taken to a court of appeals, where the scope of data access will be reviewed.

What Consequences Could It Bring?

Experts insist that this ruling could have harmful effects. The exposure of banking, medical, and identity data could facilitate identity theft, financial fraud, or discrimination.

Poor data capture and management could affect millions of citizens. In addition, if SSA systems fail or collapse, access to key services—such as retirement, disability, or Medicare—could be interrupted.
