The latest from Social Security relieves all of America: easier than ever and free
The SSA has known for a long time that this improvement had to reach the United States: millions of Americans are satisfied
The United States Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced a new digital feature that will be available starting in the summer of 2025 for Social Security beneficiaries. This initiative will allow access to the Social Security Number (SSN) online.
However, the need to carry the physical card will be eliminated. It will be easier to consult it from any mobile device through the "My Social Security" portal.
SSA of the United States takes a step forward: it will be easier very soon
This improvement aims to optimize public service, streamline processes, protect users' personal information, and reduce the risk of card loss or theft. The goal is also to decrease in-person visits to SSA offices for card replacement-related procedures.

The agency urges all beneficiaries to take advantage of this modern and secure technological solution. If you lose or your Social Security card is stolen, SSA offers several replacement options.
To replace your Social Security card, do this without hesitation
The fastest and most recommended option is online replacement through the "My Social Security" portal. This process is free and available to U.S. citizens over 18 years old who have a mailing address in the country and a valid driver's license or state identification.
To request a replacement card online, you must log in to your "My Social Security" account and select the "Replace your Social Security card" option. Additionally, answer the eligibility questions and enter your personal information. If you are not eligible to complete the process online, you can do it in person at a local SSA office, presenting the required documents.

SSA doesn't stand still: it wants to make life easier for Americans
Additionally, SSA has updated its website to facilitate beneficiaries' processes and procedures through the "My Social Security" platform. People can create a free account on the platform to access personalized tools, whether or not they receive Social Security benefits.
With your account, you can request a replacement Social Security card, check the status of an application, estimate future benefits, or manage your current payments, among other things. Additionally, SSA has announced that beneficiaries who created their "My Social Security" account before September 18, 2021, will migrate to an account on Login.gov.
They should use an existing ID.me account to continue accessing online services. This change aims to improve security and simplify the login process, complying with federal authentication standards.
