The royal family can't do anything: what's happening with King Felipe and Princess Leonor leaks

The latest news about King Felipe and Princess Leonor has surprised all followers of the Royal Family

Palma de Mallorca is getting ready to host one of the most desired nautical events of the summer: Copa del Rey de Vela-Mapfre, which will begin on July 28. However, this year, not only the wind and sails will capture the attention of attendees. The media spotlight has shifted toward the Royal Family, particularly on King Felipe VI and his daughter, Princess Leonor.

Breaking news has revealed what had remained a mystery until now: father and daughter won't be able to sail together in the competition, and not by their own choice. Organizers have been clear: "The princess won't sail with her father for security reasons. King Felipe never did so on Bribón de don Juan Carlos, because the king and the heir, in this case, the princess, can't and shouldn't go together."

The unwritten rule that prevents the two main members of the line of succession from sharing a boat now makes more sense than ever. This is especially true in a context where Leonor is beginning to take on a more active and symbolically important public role.

The Decision Made by King Felipe and Princess Leonor Is Confirmed

At 19 years old, Princess Leonor is emerging as a renewing figure in the Spanish monarchy. After six intense months of military training on the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano, she is more than ready to make her sailing debut as part of the Women's Cup.

The women's category, which this year is gaining special prominence in Copa del Rey. She won't do so on Aifos, the Navy's sailboat where her father, Felipe VI, sails, but rather on one of the 14 boats with an exclusively female crew.

This debut is no small matter. Unlike her grandfather, her father, or her aunts, Infantas Elena and Cristina, Princess Leonor didn't have that direct connection with sailing during her childhood. That's why this debut in Mallorca means much more than a simple regatta: it's a gesture of institutional and personal commitment.

The decision has been made. Although the Royal Family can't do anything to change the protocol, the truth is that Leonor will sail the waters for the first time as a professional on her own.
