The Worst Rumors About Meghan Markle, Prince Harry's Wife, Are Confirmed

Meghan Markle accumulates a series of plagiarism accusations that are damaging her reputation with public opinion

Meghan Markle is once again at the center of media attention. This time, not for her personal life or family decisions. Now, accusations of plagiarism are once again overshadowing her public image.

In recent months, several projects by the Duchess of Sussex have been criticized for their lack of originality. These controversies have reignited rumors pointing to "excessive inspiration" as a pattern of behavior. Communication experts believe these cases seriously damage her credibility.

Pearl, Meghan Markle's Animated Series, Is Under Scrutiny

One of the most notable cases of plagiarism rumors has been Pearl, the animated series that Meghan Markle presented in 2021. The project was announced as a celebration of female empowerment through historical figures. However, British writer Mel Elliot reported striking similarities with her children's series Pearl Power, published between 2014 and 2016.

Mel Elliot stated she was puzzled to see that the concept of Meghan Markle's series reminded her of her work. Additionally, she noted that she had been working on a television adaptation of her books since 2019. Although she attempted to contact Archewell Productions and Netflix through a legal letter, she never received a response.

The lack of acknowledgment from Meghan Markle's team further increased Elliot's indignation. The author confessed that, far from seeking confrontation, she hoped for an opportunity to collaborate. "What saddened me the most was that my objection was never acknowledged," she lamented publicly.

The outcome was that Netflix canceled Pearl in May 2022, even before production began. Officially, the platform cited budget cuts due to subscriber losses. However, Elliot believes her intervention may have influenced that decision.

The creator of Pearl Power expressed her relief at the project's cancellation. For her, Pearl not moving forward was a small victory in defense of her work. She also expressed concern that it now seems like she copied an idea that was actually hers first.

It's Not the First Time This Has Happened to Meghan Markle

This is not an isolated case in Meghan Markle's recent history. The Duchess was also accused of plagiarism in her lifestyle show With Love, Meghan. Many viewers noticed obvious similarities with Pamela Anderson's show, Pamela’s Cooking with Love.

Both shows shared a similar title and an almost identical aesthetic. The trailers featured similar scenes, such as garden walks and intimate cooking moments. Although there was no formal lawsuit, the comparisons sparked an intense debate in media and social media.

In February 2025, another controversy affected Meghan Markle's reputation. Her brand As Ever was accused of copying the coat of arms of the Mallorcan municipality of Porreres. The similarity between the brand's logo and the municipality's official symbol was described as "a total copy" by Mayor Xisca Mora.

The Porreres coat of arms shows a palm tree flanked by two swallows, while the As Ever logo includes a palm tree accompanied by two hummingbirds. Although the City Council ruled out suing due to high costs, it formally requested the logo's removal. The controversy once again placed Meghan Markle under a cloud of suspicion.

In all these cases, the pattern seems to repeat: similar concepts, evasive responses, and growing reputational damage. Although Mel Elliot admitted she can't prove that Meghan's team directly copied her work, the coincidences are hard to ignore. Thus, the worst rumors about the Duchess of Sussex seem to be confirmed once again: plagiarism is prevalent in her life.
