The U.S. Social Security Administration Clarifies These Payments: Date Set
Millions of United States citizens are awaiting payments that will arrive in their accounts very soon
The United States Social Security Administration (SSA) has issued important clarifications about tax refund payments. In this case, it concerns those that millions of Americans are expecting in May, which is about to begin.
Although no new stimulus checks have been announced, tax refunds continue to be processed and sent to taxpayers. If you filed your tax return in April, you might already have an estimated refund date.
SSA Clears Up Doubts for Millions of Americans: When Will the Refund Arrive
According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), most refunds are issued within 21 days after the return is accepted, provided it was filed electronically and direct deposit was chosen. If you opted to receive the refund by paper check, the waiting time may be longer, up to two months.

If you filed your return in April, here are the estimated dates you could receive your refund, according to the IRS calendar. These dates are approximate and may vary depending on the filing method and other factors.
- April 8: estimated refund for May 1
- April 10: estimated refund for May 5
- April 12: estimated refund for May 7
- April 15: estimated refund for May 10
How to Check the Status of Your Refund? All Facilities
To check the status of your refund, the IRS offers the online tool "Where's My Refund?" You can access it at irs.gov. You will need to provide your Social Security number or ITIN and your filing status.

You will also be asked for the exact amount of the refund you expect. The information is updated once a day, usually overnight. If more than 21 days have passed since you filed electronically and chose direct deposit, or more than six weeks if you filed on paper, and you still haven't received your refund, it is advisable to contact the IRS.
You can call 1-800-829-1954 for assistance. If you suspect your check was lost, stolen, or destroyed, the IRS can issue a replacement, but this process can take up to six weeks.
